UV Sterilisation is vital if you are using untreated water from a source such as a spring, a borehole, a well. Even if you harvest rainwater or in some circumstances there are problems with your mains supply.
Untreated water is likely to contain bacteria and carry viruses. There are many sources of untreated water (springs, boreholes, wells, harvested rainwater and in some cases, mains supply). We use a lot of water each day, some of which is ingested so bacterial contamination must be avoided, particularly if there are very young or older members in the household using the water.
Untreated water can be simply disinfected using a Ultra Violet (UV) system. UV disinfection is a proven, reliable and cost effective way of disinfecting water; it is more effective than traditional treatments and also an environmentally responsible way of treating water as there are no disinfection bi-products.
Safe and chemical free, UV disinfection will not alter the water chemistry and its constituents, such as pH, taste, odour or colour.
HOW IT WORKS
UV systems can destroy 99.9% of harmful micro-organisms. “UV” is a type of energy found in the electromagnetic spectrum between X-rays and visible light; the UV energy attacks the core of the micro-organism destroying the DNA (or RNA in the case of viruses) making the micro-organism inactive. A UV system consists of a chamber, which houses a UV bulb which is surrounded by a sleeve. The water flows over the sleeve and the UV light penetrates through the water sterilising the micro-organisms. We recommended that at least one prefilter is installed to filter the water down to 5 micron as any shadowing from larger sediment particles can stop the UV reaching the micro-organisms.
WHY BUY OURS
We have worked closely with our partners for many years developing and manufacturing the highest grade of UV sterilisation equipment available on the market. All of our units are engineered to the highest standard and we are constantly researching and looking at new techniques in this field of water sterilisation. Our systems employ a low-pressure mercury vapour discharge lamp surrounded by a water jacket whose inner wall is made from a specially developed UVC-transparent quartz structure. The lamp produces a very strong spectral line at 254nm in the shortwave region, which is the waveband most lethal to micro-organisms.
Specifications
Equipped to inactivate chlorine-resistant parasites such as Cryptosporidium, Guardia and harmful bacteria like E.Coli and viruses not visible to the naked eye.
A specially designed and tested regular output lamp provides consistent and reliable UV output over the entire life of the lamp (9000 hours) to ensure continuous purification.
Inner quartz sleeve with highly polished quartz structure to provide optimum wavelength penetration.
The system is easy to maintain and service with simple and easy lamp replacement.
Equipped with a slip connector that allows for easy removal of the lamp without special tools, the lamp can be changed without the water having to be switched off.
Built with a durable heavy duty 304 grade internal nano polished stainless steel chamber to prolong life and eliminate ultra violet degradation, whilst allowing full refraction surface for the UV light providing constant contact levels of sterilisation.
CE ballast power supply, which has an audible alarm and visual indicator in the unlikely event of lamp failure.
